"Last Film you watched" chain
Re: "Last Film you watched" chain
How is Magnificent Seven (the original) not on a list of top-30 Westerns? I'm not saying it has to be number 1, but it didn't make the list at all? Dang

Saw Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, the attention that was given to the CGI was commendable and genuinely interesting from a visual standpoint but the movie generally goes from point A to point B in predictable ways. OK overall.

Let us memorialize this moment where Brendan Fraser > Tom Cruise

That exactly right. I usually enjoy Tom Cruise movies but his last two Jack Reacher 2 and The Mummy have been huge whiffs.

Yeah, that Mummy reboot looked like trash, glad I skipped it. Brendan Fraser's reaction was glorious too.

I might see it as well. Horror movies aren't really my thing (world is scary enough, more so with Cheeto Head having nuclear codes), but IT looks like something good.

Looks like a really inspired take on the book, probably a good idea to revisit parts of the novel in another film. People have fairly mixed things to say about the Tim Curry miniseries.

I hear that with the exception of Tim Curry as the Pennywise, the old one doesn't hold up, like at all.

Well, Tim Curry could do no wrong. Much like how people said that Ric Flair could work a 5* match with a broom, Tim Curry could make the worst movies at least bearable.

Except Food Fight, but honestly Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill on there best day couldn't make that steaming pile work.

Re: "Last Film you watched" chain
I enjoyed IT but was a bit too distracted throughout by the unruly audience.
Mother (2017)
I can understand the reaction from the general audience, I didn't hate it, it's ambitious, violent and very controversial but plays like an absurd comedy, perhaps that was the intention.
Wind River (2017)
Very brutal, intense and disturbing but the sense of retribution towards the end is so satisfying that it's almost cathartic. Terrific film.
Taylor Sheridan should adapt Blood Meridian into a film.

Logan (2017)
I knew very little of the plot going in, other than the unavoidable stuff through advertisements and general comments. I knew that this were to be the final portrayal of the characters by Jackman and Stewart, which made events go as expected, although I admit I was still holding out for a twist.
I fell in love with Laura. What a fascinating and well portrayed character. The actor playing her did a fantastic job. I feel some bits of the plot were thrown in too lightly and would have appreciated more backstory. Okay we briefly find out that certain characters had certain fates and others are battling conditions we can't see and which are also only briefly mentioned. Okay. Care to elaborate further?
X24 whilst initially interesting, seemed too convenient to the plot, with shades of the movie X-2. It was hard to care or invest as a result. The antagonist behind the scenes is also way too convenient as well as his role in everything the plot is about. Oh hey, I'm related to this person and I caused this to happen. I also had chicken for dinner, how was your day?
Not keen on how Xavier's story ends. I was hooked with Logan though. He's pulled through literally everything up to now. Will he defeat this final adversory? As I alluded to, I still had my doubts up until the very end, which is a good thing. The final five minutes with Laura were very emotional too, particularly her very last interaction with Logan after the others had begun to leave. Did I mention that I love this kid?
I'm happy all in all. We saw a character to his well earned conclusion and now Old Man Logan can rest. Now I find myself wishing to see more of Laura's story, but that would negate the whole point of this story to do so. Bastards.

Logan was incredible, one of the best of the year for sure. Such a well-conceived film from start to finish and it could be that because it wasn't a vehicle to set up another film.

Shy of a month before Justice League drops. Still don't know how to feel going in, just hoping for decent and fun.
Agreed that Logan was a well done movie, the way Xavier ends still frustrates me, but I do understand it. Laura was fantastic, the actress was silent (save for the odd grunts and screams) for a large portion of the movie, but she still managed to convey heart and emotion. Don't know where Fox will take the series, but if this is truly the end, then a tip of the hat to the team.
