They're going to continue to try to land a new domestic TV deal, and do what they can to keep the ship afloat until then.

But surely it would be cheaper and smarter to do best of shows or something else rather than film new TV overseas.Greg_McNeish wrote:Their Spike TV deal is ending. They still have international television.

These shows were already booked when the Spike decision was finalised. They're doing their Boot Camp thingy over there, which is mostly local talent. Couple that with being able to actually draw houses, and it may even be a profitable venture.

It be cool if Impact Wrestling went on tsn or sn360 or another sn network
if it goes on a specialty channel but make sure canadian vieiwers be able to see tna
isnt my thread suppose to be about Bobby Roode I feel like it jumped from spike drops tna thread.

Sportsnet, owned by Rogers, has a deal with the WWE. TNA won't be finding its way there. TSN also seems to have little to no interest in picking up wrestling programming, let alone a brand that's as maligned as TNA.

Nitro was on TSN after the live version of it on TNT and we got it a day or two later and
I think it was showned during the afternoon.

That was fifteen years ago, back when TSN still wanted anything to do with wrestling.

Nitro was carried in dead time slots, and was often bumped. That was when it was at its height. TSN knew then what is still true today: Canada is WWE country.

Once Maple Leaf Wrestling, Grand Prix and Stampede faded away as territories that is.

Long before then. MLW co-promoted with Vince Sr going back into the late 60s. Ontario was firmly in WWWF hands long before the 80s dawned. When Vince Jr took over, and... took over, Canada fell into place in a heartbeat. We were a row of dominoes, on the wrestling front.

CO-promoted. Everything that WWWF ran in Canada until Vince Jr. took over had either MLW or International Wrestling out of Montreal directly involved in the promotion of it. It was only when Vince Jr. took over that WWF firmly stepped into Canada and washed over the territories like a wave. Until then, the most you could say of it in Canada was that it worked WITH the territories there but didn't step on their toes and try to steal their limelight.

Vince Sr exhibited a lot of influence on the Toronto & Montreal promotions, though, too. By the time young Vinnie decided to cut out the middle man, they had already been practically vassal states for a long time. Heck, take it all the way back to Buddy Rogers and the breakaway from the NWA in the early 60s. The fateful Rogers/Thesz match, where Thesz won the title in controversial fashion (in one fall, rather than the customary 2/3), was cooked up by Toots, and executed faithfully in Toronto.

Interesting. One has to wonder if footage exists of said match.

Re: Bobby Roode wins his 2nd tna whc
There were two matches, actually. Toronto hosted a 2/3 falls rematch a couple weeks later, with NWA World Champion Lou Thesz successfully defending against WWWF World Champion Buddy Rogers. In that match (which is usually mistakenly thought of as the title change and only match), Thesz won 2-1, but Rogers lost his first fall by DQ. That was common practice for a touring heel champ, back then, because it let the babyface win the match with a nice clean finish, but because of the earlier DQ, the title didn't change hands.
Anyway, I've never come across the footage, but then, I've never looked. You know what would be great? If there was some sort of subscription service for whoever owns that footage.

Yes, that would be ideal...If such a service existed...Perhaps even On Demand as it were...In a multitude of countries...

Re: Bobby Roode wins his 2nd tna whc
That's simply asking too much.
Sort of like asking Bobby Roode to have a good title reign, this time. It's just not a thing that can be a thing.
