Mike Knox was a pretty darn good worker. He just didn't have the size and presence to stick out as a big man in the WWE, where there are 7-footers walking around. From the moment he was released by them, I was saying that TNA should look at getting him in to be a monster heel, since they have a physically smaller roster. Aces & 8s wasn't an effective use of him, or you know, anybody but Bully Ray & Mr. Anderson, because there was no room to actually stand out. Him leading his own stable isn't a whole heck of a lot better, because it still doesn't have the big man standing out as a big man, but he's got the in-ring ability to get it done, if they can give him match-ups that work for him.

So far Knux hasn't really impressed me but I think there is something there.

He's shown a lot of character in his recent videos and it's good to see larger than life characters in TNA.

Wrestling was built on larger than life characters and great visuals. The Menagerie look good together and held my attention unlike a lot of what is happening in TNA.

Have to agree with don'tcallme.

In TNA in particular, it's often just a bunch of guys yammering on about how badass they are. There's a handful of guys that have more of a gimmick to them, but usually it's the same crap over and over. I don't think everyone needs to be gimmicky like we had back in the day, but hearing/seeing the same thing from a dozen different guys week in and week out just gets stale.

The Menagerie is a nice change from that. Their debut was genuinely interesting and left a lot of room for growth. We'll see where they take it in the next couple months.

Is having a stable is the TNA way of wrestling troupes? I feel like TNA has always had at least one stable for no fucking reason other than to have a stable.

WWE is generally the same way in regards to stables. There's always a couple running around even if it's just a tag team and a manager acting as their mouthpiece.

Personally, I don't mind a stable like this. It's a group of 'friends' coming in together and teaming up. Bothers me more when we get stables that are a group of established guys that suddenly band together for no reason whatsoever.

Until the emergence of Heyman in the past couple years, leading to a little growth in the use of managers, the WWE had been a wasteland for stables and mouthpieces for years.

Managers/mouthpieces I can definitely agree with. WWE always has a few stables running around though. While they're more prominent now with the Shield and the Wyatts, prior to the last couple years we still had Nexus/The New Nexus, The Corre, and the Straight Edge Society to name a couple. None of them were anywhere near as popular or well done as the Shield or the Wyatts, of course. I was just commenting on criticizing TNA because they always have some random stable running around. TNA certainly has its faults but I don't think that's one of them. WWE is just as likely to always have a stable or two on their shows.

Stables are a bit more common in TNA, but yes, the difference there isn't significant. The big difference is the size of the stables. Stables in WWE are almost always three-person groups, while TNA often has twice that number. With stables that size, it's easy to run into the problem that so often befalls them, which is having too many things happening at the same time, enveloping the show, muddying up feuds, and still often leaving people seeming like they have nothing to do.

I have never seen them on TV, only photos. When I see this group it slightly reminds me of the Wyatt Family though.
