Dang. Which means for the second year in a row, TNA has to either find a new home, become an internet online show, or more than likely close it's doors.

Unsubstantiated at this point, of course, but this would hardly be a shocking development.

I thought it was just Mike Tenay's talkshow that was cancelled?

They canceled another show and apparently have made the decision to cancel it entirely. They have an out clause in their contract in September, which is why the show is suspected to end then.

Right, DA could show the same good will that Spike did TNA but without the long relationship, and the fact that DA is most likely going to want to get their next season of programming up and running sooner rather than later, it is completely logical to believe that TNA will be off DA after September.

Having now read the full report on Wrestleview, the big takeaway I had isn't that Impact isn't drawing advertising dollars, but that the EXISTING advertisers on Destination America have said they don't want to be associated with a wrestling show. That makes it an existential crisis for the network. Much different than the situation ever was at Spike.

Wrestling: The bastard child of entertainment that no one wants.

Sports? Advertisers will flock to equally violent "legit" sports like NFL to the tune of spending millions just to air commercials during the superb owl.

Entertainment? Advertisers will throw money to advertise on some of the most banal, vapid, moronic shows ever conceived. Kardashians, Duck Dynasty, Jersey Shore. Nothing is too stupid or low brow for advertisers.

The amalgamation of sports and entertainment? Won't touch it with a ten foot pole.

The problem is wrestling has always been presented as a low brow show. Even with a violent sport like MMA or American football, those sports have the guise of athletic competition in them and don't have the "fake" mantra. It's a pretty difficult stigma to get beyond as well.

Also, relevant: Destination America is a third-tier cable network that gave TNA a stay of execution. Maybe the advertisers don't have faith in a product that was on death's door. I could make an argument that it's not that they're anti-wrestling, it's that they're anti-spending money on a product they have no faith in. If those same advertisers could get a slot on Raw, primetime on Monday night on a top-tier cable channel for a relatively similar ad cost, I think they'd jump on it.

Also, the impression I got by this partnership was that DA wanted TNA to be a programming foundation that helped the network grow. That has not happened, as TNA's audience hasn't really expanded the footprint of DA (Something that Raw was able to do for both USA and TNN/Spike). The problem really isn't that TNA is wrestling. It's that they were brought in to be a flagship for the DA rebranding, and they haven't done the job as well as was hoped

Probably because TNA isn't flagship material.

After reading all the news on DA canceling TNA and then seeing Samoa Joe at NXT, I'm left wondering......

Which TNA Superstars will end up in NXT/WWE?

After listening to stone cold Steve Austin's podcasts I'd put money on Eric Young and James Storm.

I don't really care for anyone in that roster. The next big signing they should make is Adam Cole.

So, TNA has said it's defamation and that they're going to sue, but have they actually said it's not true?

There isnt many channels that impact can be on like theres nbc, abc, cbs, sports channels
I like them to be on a good one well in canada it's on the fight network and that channel
is a specialty channel that you have to pay extra for it.

I dont think impact can be on sportsnet when WWE is on there.
But wwe and wcw were on tsn at the same time back in the day :)

This is America. Lawsuits, whether founded or not, occur all the time so that bit has no meaning to me.

As for the roster, as always I say both The Hardys and Kurt Angle will be back in the WWE fold sooner rather than later. I really only see MAYBE Magnus and Eric Young as potential pick ups. Seeing what talent in NXT can do, I think those signings of stars will become rarer and rarer.

You'll get the odd signing of a Joe or veteran return of a Rhyno, but with their own in house talent will eat up those spots.
