There's a lot I agree with but I think you're being a little too idealistic with that kind of thinking. It's easy to say things in the moment but once enough time elapses people revert back to their bubbles because that's convenient and profitable. Greater forces have to shift before people can make the shift happen. Trump proved that moderation clearly wasn't the flavour of the year. He was opportunistic and capitalised on sentiment.

Trying to whip up a wind to carry yourself on is a very difficult thing to do.
The Democrats fell in line. The Republicans fell in love. You can't hurry love you just have to wait as that Diana Ross song goes. It's that simple.

Changing things on a local level requires millennials to give a shit about that stuff and outside of ballot measures that legalize weed, let's be real, they don't.

Getting donor and lobbyist money out, changing gerrymandering and imposing term limits would unclog the pipe but until that's done in a bipartisan way those with the stranglehold on that power won't give it up. That's what it comes down to.

Give it time and human nature dictates that this "funeral for democracy" and "democratic party post-mortem" will right itself. Bernie and Elizabeth Warren are already moving quickly to do it. Trump might have been the last hurrah, who knows.

I concur, with many points both of you are making here. Clinton's biggest problem was her ties to Wall Street and the baggage that came with, coupled with the email hacks and those emails in general. She came off as an insider already bought and paid for by Wall Street who made no efforts to connect with the middle class of rural America. It was the biggest gamble the DNC could have came up with and then they squashed the people's choice of Bernie, which the email hacks revealed, once again. The DNC shouldn't have been so forceful in shoehorning her in. If it ran its course and Bernie won, you're nearly guaranteed to give Trump a trouncing in the election, but clearer heads could not prevail in the DNC. I hope they can clean up their act in the next four years.

Also, I think if she wants it, Elizabeth Warren would be the perfect candidate to go up against Trump in 2020.

Indeed. I think Biden could've been a better choice as well. Biden could've had an easier time tapping into that rural, middle-America, white voting block and his time as VP with Obama could've given him a good in road with black voters.

And don't forget a major presidential candidate brags about sexually assaulting women and is accused of sexually assaulting women but Hillary's emails deserved equally condemning coverage in the court of media opinion.

Thank God Trump never had a private email server is all I can say. Am I right?

To be fair on Biden, he chose not to run in the aftermath of his son passing away. At least in that case, it wasn't like he got forced out of the way for Hillary

January 4th is the typical inauguration day, if I recall correctly.

The most pressing questions though remains unanswered... will he Tweet from his personal account about how sad people are or from POTUS?

Yup, one of these Sundays the New York Times will write a bad story about him and then all bets are off.

The man is a tidal flood of bad news. Gotta start putting the sandbags outside the gate and at the front door in advance, metaphorically speaking.

The pertinent question, though, is "what changes gonna do with it?"

I think we need to take a deep look into the Simpsons. Because far too many times they've correctly predicted the future.

Also, check out Dave Chappelle's monologue from last night's SNL. Equal parts hilarious and touching, especially the ending.
