I hadn't even thought of the spiny shells being used for hats. Should have used Monty Moles there.

Empty Spikies and Buzzy Beetle shells can be used as hats. If you can get under them before they hit the ground and start spinning, that is. You get the empty stuff by shaking the Spiney's and Buzzy Beetles when making a level.

They're helpful, but if you can't get under one in time, they can move pretty quickly along the ground when fired out of the red cannons.

Oh yeah, I figured that out while playing around with another level, I'm just saying that should have loaded full spikies in those early cannons rather than just their shells.

Wish I could join in on this, would love to see videos of the levels you've designed.

Yeah, I can do that. I'll fire up my capture card this week and give them a whirl.

I've maxed out the number of levels I could upload. Having so much fun with this game it's ridiculous.

You'll be able to upload more if you get enough stars, I believe.

Indeed, it's getting those stars though that's the trick.

So, maxed out at 10/10 levels and just not getting enough stars to put me over the hump and let me upload more. SO! I have a few that were taken down and replaced with newer levels. Check out this latest one, it's a puzzler: A33A-0000-00B8-0096

I've been spending time playing the 100 Mario Challenges and man, there are some jems to be found, but there's so much crap. Most levels I come across through that are made by kids and their idea of a level is "LETS SEE HOW MUCH CRAP I CAN THROW AT THE SCREEN AT ONCE!" Luckily, in order to make these levels so hard, they usually have to include some sort of cheat, like a star or a hidden door in order to complete it themselves (You have to be able to beat your own level in order to upload it) so it's just a matter of finding the easy route. If I end up with one that's just too much of a chaotic mess or a Kaizo wannabe I just skip it though.

Oh and my least favourite of all: The ones who spam the shit out of the sound effects. Man, is that ever annoying.

Yeah. There are a lot of people who don't grasp level design in Mario Maker, and games like it (See: Little Big Planet)

The other big trend I've noticed are the levels that require you to not move and do all the work for you. What a fucking bore. Yet, they get voted, er, "starred" through the roof.

Ingenuity. Some of them show the creators have a real good grasp of how everything interplays.

Others, they're just messes though.

There was one "On the rails" level that I thought was really clever, the others I've come across are in the latter category.

I think of the ten levels I have, only one you've played before (A-Maze-Ing, my other early ones I deleted to make room for newer ones.)

You should be able to tell which ones I've played thus far, wither by clicking on the star icon on the level (shows who cleared and starred), or you can view the comments I've left.
