Netflix has also released an Iron First trailer, starring Finn Jones (a.k.a Loras Tyrell of Game of Thrones) as the titular character. Both shows look awesome.

Random factoid: In two years That 70's Show (1998) will be twenty years old. It was set twenty two years before the time of filming (1976) and lasted eight seasons (2006) and in eight seasons it progressed four years inside the shows timeline. (Ending on New Years Eve, 1979)

If they were to do another That ___ Show in two years time and set it twenty two years before the start of filming, it would be set in 1996 and if the time progressed as it does in-show and ended after eight seasons, the in-show end date would be December 31st, 1999.

Surprised to not see any mention of Stranger Things here yet, it seems to be catching the internet by storm. I'm interested in giving it a look myself, though no idea when that will be.

I have seen it Nucks.

I thought it was pretty good. An interesting blend of Spielberg, Carpenter, and Stephen King all rolled into one. While I am extremely fond of that era and those kinds of scenarios once you establish that early on it becomes difficult to escape from even though they did an excellent job towards the end. A top notch production. I really really liked it, I wish I could love it but even still a thumbs up from me.

Over the summer, I've found a TV show that has gotten to be a bit of a guilty pleasure. It's a show on the TLC network called My 600 lb. Life. I'm not ashamed to admit that it is the "freak show" nature of it that I find holds my interest. Some of the stories are very inspirational and uplifting, and some of them are downright disgusting.

Each show starts out by profiling the patient. It's almost always the same story; I was traumatized, I was abused, I was bullied, my parents divorced, etc., I'm an emotional wreck, so now I shovel 5 pizzas a day into myself and wash it down with a dozen BigMacs and 3 gallons of soda. I notice not a single case I've seen on the show has someone's weight problems been due to some disease or medical condition. And they do not show any footage of the patients eating prior to seeing the weight loss surgeon. I think if they showed that, it would destroy any sympathy the viewer might have. The doctor explains, the math is simple: in order to maintain a 600 lb. bodyweight, you must consume 30,000 calories a day! (2500 is considered normal)

Some of the stories are inspirational. "Joe' realized he had a serious problem as his weight was approaching 600, and did not want to be a burden to his family. He still had some mobility left, so he followed the diet he was given. and made good progress losing weight. He even met a nice girl and his future was looking bright. An great inspiration.

On the other end, this momma's boy named "Sean" is 26 years old. He can hardly move. He cries and complains about everything, and barely makes an effort to scoot to the edge of his bed to pee and poop into a washtub. His mother does everything for him. She finally had him hauled to the weight loss surgeon, he cried and threw a tantrum the whole time. He weighed in at 919lbs! And then after seeing the Rx, he gained weight! I must admit, I have no sympathy for this pathetic blob.

Two episodes, people who refused to follow the Rx guidelines had died from their weight. Kinda sad, but it's had to sympathize with people who simply won't help themselves, when they know they are the problem.

That does sound like quite the morbid fascination you've developed Mafwanix but hey you've explained yourself more than well enough.

I must admit I'm left a bit uneasy by those kinds of shows. I understand their entertainment factor but it always seems like the producers of these shows have to find sad cases to make light of to make their audience of lower to middle-class folk feel better about their lives. Same goes for Judge Judy, Jerry Springer, Teen Pregnancy and Beauty Pageants. I just scratch my head and ask why. There's no meaning to be found just a feeling of self-congratulation that at least you're not as bad as the subjects of these shows.

Because of the Welfare States in Europe, there's a constant market for that kind of moaning which is lapped up by Talk Radio and TV Networks, they see it as easy ratings.

When that show is on, I'm into it ten minutes and head for the exercise bike.
It is inspiring to me in that respect.
I helps me realize sometimes i'm just making excuses for things.

There's no easy way to say it. I'm still mad at Lucasfilm for delaying Ep VIII although now I kind of understand it. Reasonably it should be completed next August/September but why would they release it then? May given their eventual schedule would have been too much of a rush especially coming so soon after Rogue One.
