The Face of the WWE (Simulation)

Post by Greg_McNeish » Fri Dec 06, 2013 4:14 pm

At Summerslam 2013, Daniel Bryan climbed to the top of the mountain, by defeating John Cena in the main event, to win the WWE Championship. A few minutes later, it all came crashing down, as guest referee Triple H blindsided Bryan with a Pedigree, allowing Randy Orton to cash in his Money In The Bank contract, to snatch the title away. The next night, Triple H was joined by his wife Stephanie, to cement their new regime, and name Randy Orton the new Face of the WWE. With The Shield at their command, and their hand-picked champion, the mountain to climb for Daniel Bryan could not be higher.

He's not the only climber, though, as generational change is in the air, and every young Superstar looks to stake their claim for the years to come. Is the old guard ready to let go? John Cena is on the shelf for elbow surgery, but one would have to assume that he won't go quietly into the night, when he returns.

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon have placed the crown on Randy Orton's head, but only time will tell who is truly...

What strikes me about the WWE Roster as fan-fucking-tastic is that they've got so many guys who can live it up in the Main Event, and slum it around in the midcard without an issue.

Kane, Henry, Ziggler, Sheamus, Sandow (see: matches with Sheamus), Punk, Bryan, Christian, Del Rio... All can work main event programs, and midcard ones, without really seeming out of place.

WWE RAW

Raw opens with Triple H in the ring, and The Shield guarding the ramp. The COO introduces the Face of the WWE, Randy Orton. Orton talks about what it means to be the Face of a company, then plays a game with the crowd, asking if Daniel Bryan should give up his rematch at Night of Champions. The crowd chants NO, but Orton says yes, Bryan should give it up, and accept that he's a B+ player. If he doesn't, then Orton will be forced to embarrass him in front of the world.
Daniel Bryan steps onto the stage, with a microphone in hand, saying that he would never give up on his dream, because it's his belief in his dream that has brought him here today. It's his belief in that dream, no matter how many people told him he'd never make it out of wrestling training, or armouries, or FCW, or NXT, or any of the rungs on the ladder in the WWE... it's that belief in his dream that has proven every one of his doubters wrong, and it's that belief that will allow him to prove the doubters standing in the ring right now wrong.
Triple H interjects to say that Daniel Bryan is clearly angry, but he shouldn't be angry at them; he should be angry at the 7-foot giant that has been standing by with crocodile tears, pretending to be upset while Bryan has gotten beat up over the past couple weeks, instead of actually doing something. So, he is making tonight's main event Daniel Bryan vs. The Big Show.
A

Backstage, Triple H and Randy Orton are talking, when Cody Rhodes walks up to them, asking to speak with Orton. Rhodes says that he doesn't understand why his old Legacy leader and partner doesn't want to face Daniel Bryan. In his humble opinion, Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan IS what's best for business. Triple H pipes in to mention Cody Rhodes just getting married, and how he & Orton didn't get invitations. Because he wasn't there, he's giving Rhodes a wedding present tonight, by giving him the opportunity to step in the ring with the Face of the WWE, but that if he doesn't win, his career in the WWE will be coming to an end.
A

The Miz defeated Fandango in 9:58 by submission with a Figure Four Leg Lock.
A

Daniel Bryan is in his locker room, preparing for the main event, when former-Smackdown General Manager Booker T joins him for a chat. He tells Bryan that he needs to make sure that his pride isn't putting his career in jeopardy. Randy Orton and the people he's got backing him are dangerous, and if he's not careful, he might end up not being able to continue doing what he loves. It's great to chase his dream, and we've all loved chasing it with him, but Booker T wants Bryan to think with his head, as much as he's thinking with his heart.
A

Dolph Ziggler, the #1 Contender to the US Championship, is in the ring awaiting his opponent, when US Champ Dean Ambrose rushes in from behind, and throws him shoulder-first into the ring post. The monstrous Ryback is then announced as Ziggler's opponent.
A

Ryback defeated Dolph Ziggler in 9:48 by pinfall with a Shell Shock.
Ziggler valiantly tried to fight through the injuries from the pre-match assault, but it was not to be. When "Big Hungry" smells blood in the water....
A*

Triple H & Stephanie McMahon are in the General Manager's office, when the GM, Brad Maddox, comes in to inform them that The Big Show is refusing to face Daniel Bryan. Stephanie tells her husband that she'll handle this.

Steph heads out to the ring, and talks about growing up backstage in arenas, and that The Big Show was someone she could always count on for support and friendship. She asks her giant to join her in the ring. He does, and they hug as a greeting. She lays out a long history of bad financial decisions by The Big Show, saying that he's broke, that he needs this job, and that it's always been a fear of his that giants don't live as long as the rest of us. She tells him that, as his friend, she just wants to see Big Show do what's right for his family, and that's to keep his job, by doing what his boss tells him to do. He's contracted to perform, and that's what he needs to do tonight, by stepping into this ring with Daniel Bryan, and giving all these people in attendance a great main event. That's not just best for business; it's best for The Big Show and his family.
B+

Prime Time Players defeated 3MB (Slater & Mahal) in 10:08 when Titus O'Neil defeated Heath Slater by pinfall with a Clash of the Titus.
B-

After picking up the victory, the Prime Time Players celebrate in the ring with their signature Millions Of Dollars dance. The camera pans the crowd to show groups of fans joining in the fun.
B

Brad Maddox is shown in his office. Paul Heyman comes in to plead his case for the handicap match at Night of Champions being called off. That match practically guarantees that CM Punk will get his hands on Heyman, and that's something that simply can't be allowed to happen, because if it does, CM Punk is going to destroy him. It could very well be the end of Paul Heyman for good, and Maddox has to know that losing someone with Paul Heyman's experience couldn't possibly be what's best for business. Brad Maddox says that doing what's best for business is giving the crowd what they want; not what they think they want, but what they really and truly want. Heyman takes that ball, and runs with it, saying that the crowd THINKS they want to see CM Punk tear him apart, but what they really want is — "to see CM Punk tear you apart," Maddox finishes. He tells Heyman to not waste his energy trying to weasel out of this match, because he's going to need all the energy he can to survive it.
B+

Randy Orton defeated Cody Rhodes in 12:57 by pinfall with a RKO.
A*

As Randy Orton makes his way up the ramp, Triple H steps out onto the stage, and says that Cody Rhodes put up a hell of a fight, but in the end, it wasn't enough. He's sorry to have to do this, but... "You're fired."
B+

CM Punk cuts a promo on Paul Heyman, and how he's had to fight through all the Paul Heyman Guys, to get his hands on him, but at Night of Champions, he WILL get his hands on Paul Heyman, and when he does, he won't let go until the job is finished. He promises each and every one of the fans that he will lay a beating on Paul Heyman so bad that we will never, ever see him again.
B+

Big Show is in his locker room, unhappily getting ready for the main event, when Daniel Bryan walks in. Big Show says that he knows why Bryan's here, and that he wishes they could join forces to fight the REAL enemy, too, but that just doesn't seem to be possible, right now. He tells Bryan that Stephanie & Triple H are making him get in the ring, but that Bryan should save his strength for Night of Champions, by just laying down or walking away, tonight. Bryan says that he's not here for any of that. He's here to tell Big Show that he WANTS to face him tonight, because he needs to show him, Booker T, and everyone else that thinks he needs to "save my strength" that he doesn't, because this (pointing to the first YES on his shirt) is his strength. This (pointing to the second YES) is his passion for wrestling. This (pointing to the third YES) his belief in his dreams. Just like Randy Orton at Night of Champions, Big Show is going to learn the power of this, this, and this, tonight.
A

#1 Contendership for the WWE Divas Championship
Brie Bella drew with Naomi and Natalya in 7:56.
Divas Champion AJ Lee was on commentary, but rushed the ring and attacked all three competitors.
C+

Damien Sandow is in the ring, reminding everyone that he is the Uncrowned World Heavyweight Championship, holding his Money In The Bank briefcase high in the air. Ricardo Rodriguez steps onto the stage saying that Sandow may be the Uncrowned Champion, but in two weeks, at Night of Champions, a new World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned, and his name is RRRRRRRRRRRRRRob Van Dam.
B

Rob Van Dam defeated Damien Sandow in 12:55 by pinfall with a Five-Star Frog Splash.
A*

Backstage, Stephanie McMahon and Brad Maddox announce that, due to the way the #1 Contenders match for the Divas Championship ended, they've decided that AJ Lee will defend her title at Night of Champions in a fatal four way, against Brie Bella, Naomi, and Natalya.
B-

Cody Rhodes is shown in street clothes, with a bag slung over his shoulder, being escorted through the backstage area by security. Renee Young catches up to him for some parting words. He says that he's not upset at the loss, because Randy Orton is not only the WWE Champion, but used to be his mentor. He's upset that his job was on the line, for no good reason. The McMahons have had it in for the Rhodes family for decades, first putting his father in polka dots, then his brother in gold paint, and now this. He takes a deep breath, and collects himself, lowering his voice to say that he has a family to take care of, and walking away.
B+

Daniel Bryan drew with The Big Show in 13:21 when the match was ruled a no contest.

Big Show was reluctant to fight Daniel Bryan, but Bryan's relentless attacks forced his hand. As he loaded up the knockout punch, though, he couldn't bring himself to do it, and tried to walk away from the match. Triple H and then Stephanie McMahon met him on the ramp, and convinced him to go back, as The Shield laid a beating on a defenceless Bryan. They held Bryan up, as Triple H ordered Big Show to knock him out. Big Show looked to knock out Triple H instead, but Stephanie stepped in the way, and told him to think of his family, and do the right thing. With that, Big Show balled up his fist, and with tears in his eyes, told Daniel Bryan that he was sorry, and knocked him out.
A*

As soon as the punch lands, Randy Orton's music hits, as the WWE Champion, and the Face of the WWE, walks down to the ring, smirks at a fuming Big Show, and stands over Daniel Bryan's prone body, holding his title high.
B+

RVD got a A* match? What sorcery is this?

I'm interested to see where you take off from here. No commercials to worry about, and you don't run many, if any, recaps, so you've got more time for getting more people on if you wanted. But A* is a great way to start off at the helm of the WWE.

Because there are no commercials, and simply for game mechanic purposes, Raw has been reduced to 2 hours, Smackdown to 90 minutes, and Main Event to 30 minutes. That reduction balances things out, so that it will approximate in gameplay what the WWE can do in reality.

But, yeah, all those As and A*s definitely take the pressure off, from trying to put together shows that will perform in-game. I can focus on just telling the story.

Wednesday, Week 1, Sept 2013

11 days until Night of Champions

WWE Main Event

The show opens with Renee Young interviewing Wade Barrett, who faces Christian in tonight's Main Event. He says that this will probably surprise people, but he quite likes Canadians, which should put a smile on Renee's face (It does). Sure, they may be uncultured, uneducated, unsophisticated, unimaginative, and unattractive... (Smile: Gone) ... but they are loyal subjects of Her Majesty The Queen, and that's all that really matters. Tonight, he'll make Christian subservient to the Barrett Barrage.
B

Real Americans defeated International Airstrike in 4:55 when Antonio Cesaro defeated Tyson Kidd by pinfall with a Neutralizer.
C+

Renee Young is joined by the other half of tonight's Main Event, Christian. He's glad that Wade Barrett is so proud to be English, because everyone should be proud of who they are. No matter where someone's from, though, they're always welcome to be a Peep, and Barrett is going to see his Barrage run into a brick wall, when all the Peeps come together to bring him to a screeching halt.
B-

A Raw Rebound airs, recapping the main event, with The Big Show being forced to knock out Daniel Bryan, by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
A

Christian defeated Wade Barrett in 13:18 by pinfall with a Killswitch.
