This thread is so sad I feel a duty to say something.

Something

Ya, as lackluster as the organisation behind the event itself I guess. I completely forgot about it.

Some nice action going on in the pool but that's about all my attention is focused on, that and every time the USA men's basketball have a game.

Team Canada is currently sitting eleventh overall in the medal standings with two gold, two silver and five bronze. Not too shabby thus far. America is dominating, as usual. Ireland has gotten on the board themselves with a silver in rowing.

I hear CBC have the best coverage of anywhere. If only our own national broadcasters could follow their example.

That seems to be a general consensus. I'm an avid watcher of the Winter Olympics and their coverage of those games is second to none. I only started watching the events in Rio last night and it seems up to CBC's usual standard. Dedicated coverage, knowledgeable commentators who are familiar with many of a the competitors across the globe and liberal showings of all the events with only a slight and understandable bias towards our own athletes. Can't ask for much more than that.

Seems like a bit of a shitshow eh? Outside of the action in the pool, I can't say I've found anything about these games terribly exciting.

A lot of expense for a so-so games it seems.

I watch the live streams of the events, rather than watching the tv coverage. I don't get as many backstories that way, but I cut all of the slant and bias out.

I watched a weightlifting competition that had either 2 or 3 world records broken in about a 7 minute succession. The place was going crazy for that
