And Taylor Hall is off to New Jersey. They got a defender for him, so, it's something, but Larsson alone? They could have gotten a better deal for Taylor friggin' Hall than that.

The more I look at Larsson's stats, the less annoyed I am by this deal. Oils could have gotten more for Hall, even a late round draft pick or a young defender in New Jersey's system to boost the deal, but still, Larsson might be exactly the defender that Edmonton needs. Also, there's talk of Milan Lucic headed Edmonton's way, and he could well be the person to fill the loss of Hall on the front lines. Or, he'll at least be the big brawn to keep everyone from checking McDavid into dust.

Holy shit! Edmonton signed Lucic! He said in interview that McDavid was a huge factor in the decision making process. A great signing for Edmonton and just the powerhouse needed to make Philthy and the Sharks and the other hard hitters think twice before touching McDavid.

Edmonton also picked up Jonas Gustavsson to be their new backup goalie. Still wish they hadn't traded Nilsson, but Broissoit is still pretty green, so, okay, let's see what Gustavsson can do in Oil Town.

While the Oils had a good time on the Free Agency market, the Isles...Did not. Now, they picked up Chimera, Ladd and resigned Prince, but gone are Matt Martin, Kyle Okposo and Frans Nielsen (to Toronto, Buffalo and Detroit respectively). That's a big loss for the Isles, all three were primary pieces of the Islanders puzzle.

The Oils have lost another player to the Devils, this time in Luke Gazdic, who signed with them as a free agent. He shall be a missed presence on the Oilers bench, dude was a solid player for the blue and orange.

This is in Finnish, but basically says due to the health issues and injuries Olli had the last few years in addition to the length of this past season, doctors advised him to postpone his military service. He'll pick it up in a few years.

Well then, can't argue with that.

All quiet in the Oilers and Isles camps these days, seems like the movements around the league have settled down in general.

New Jersey Devils have announced Ryan Clowe (former player and Newfoundlander) as their assistant coach! That's big news. I think it's the first time a Newfoundlander has coached an NHL team in any capacity.

Apparently that was an even hairier deal than the Stamkos re-signing.
