2015 IIHF World Championships
Re: 2015 IIHF World Championships
Just having a look at the rosters, no wonder Team Crosby is doing so well when he has Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberly, Cody Eakin, and Tyler Seguin on the front lines with him. That's an all-star lineup right there.
Team USA has Matt Hendricks of the Oilers with them AND Connor Hellebuyck of the ST. JOHN'S ICE CAPS, the local AHL team, between the pipes. That's pretty cool, one of the few AHL players among the rosters this year and he plays for my province's team. And friggin' Brock Nelson, the Isles breakout star in their all-too-brief playoff run, is also with team USA.

Re: 2015 IIHF World Championships
Canada got revenge on France today for the 2014 loss. Canada wins 4-3 and remains undefeated.

Re: 2015 IIHF World Championships
A team comprised heavily of French Canadians beat the Frenchmen. Well done.

LOL, so true.
Aren't Nova Scotians also called Atlantic Canadians?

Re: 2015 IIHF World Championships
That's one word, also Maritimers.
Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island all form the group of provinces that are commonly called the Maritimes. Newfoundland, (Where I'm from) often gets incorrectly grouped with them, but we're not part of the Maritimes. But a Newfoundlander CAN be called an Atlantic Canadians, as can people living on the coastal parts of Quebec, but they tend to get left out of that distinction.

Aha, gotcha. I was doing a little research for my book and wanted to clarify a couple things.El Canuck wrote:That's one word, also Maritimers.

HAH! Well, I can't argue with what they said about Hall and Eberle. That whole winning streak thing has to feel great, Hall hasn't experienced that since he was on the Windsor Spitfires team back in '09.

HOLY SHYTE!
Canada just blew out Austria today 10-1 in IIHF action.! I think it's safe to say they're on their way to the quarter finals considering they're still undefeated.

PHEW! USA squeaked one out by winning 5-4 against Slovakia. I was worried for a few minutes!
Re: 2015 IIHF World Championships
The Slovaks are not to be underestimated. They had a surprising run at the Olympics last year too.

Czech Republic and Switzerland game should be starting in about another hour
Re: 2015 IIHF World Championships
That has the potential to be a close game, the Swiss, like Slovakia, are not to be underestimated. They're good with the ice sports, just look at their curling teams.

I don't think I'd want to mess with those Czechs either
