Re: "Last Film you watched" chain

Arrival (2016) Didn't care for this. My brain needs a certain amount of order, and struggles with the whole concept of non linear time. So, I dislike it in storytelling. The flashback/flashforward/whatever scenes could have been edited in better, IMO; they were inserted in a confusing manner. Unsat...

Re: Idiocracy

Most gun "enthusiasts" have way more then one. Hell, I'm not a collector, hunter, or even much of a "gun person", but I have three (pellet gun, 12g single shot, .22 sport pistol)

Re: Idiocracy

Living in VA, I've run across some of these idiots. They are a lot of hard talk and bluster. Not so tough when the tables are turned.

Re: Game Of Thrones

I don't know what the process for Mad Men or Breaking Bad was I think I saw an interview with Vince Gilligan where he said the whole story arc of Breaking Bad was plotted out. I don't have HBO but I've been able to keep up with the Season 7 story from HBO's website. They put up a pretty thorough sy...

I am not a fan of over-regulation, true, but I won't deny there are places where some regulation is appropriate.

The insurance companies claimed the individual mandate"s requirements forced them to raise premiums due to the additional cost, NOW they are claiming removing the individual mandate will allow some people to drop their insurance and they will have to increase premiums. I guess next they will claim n...

Re: Question about using codec packs?

Hmm, I may be mistaken, I've seen some places say Windows DOES NOT support MP4.
For some reason, it works on my Windows 7 computer, and i never installed any sort of codec pack.
This requires more research. . .

Re: Question about using codec packs?

Most tech sites I've seen recommend against using codec packs. I think they are more a remnant of the old days when Windows XP did not support many video formats.
Windows natively supports MP4 since Windows 7, so you should not really even need a codec pack.

Re: "Last Film you watched" chain

Some of the old crap I've watched recently: The Match King (1932) Warren William film. He came from silent films and was a pretty big star in the 1930s, but now mostly forgotten. I watch any film of his I come across. Plays a scoundrel really well. Big lady's man. In this film, he becomes a powerful...

Re: Game Of Thrones

The episode last season with the Hodor/Hold the Door thing was very dramatic and cool to watch, but even after several viewings of the dvd, I still don't really understand what exactly happened? A future event affected the past? Did Bran just witness it, or did he cause it? Is there some sort of tim...

Re: Game Of Thrones

At least the longer run times on HBO will actually be story content.
AMC and FX like to have 90 minute 'special' episodes, but in that extra half hour, you get an entire hour's worth of extra commercials and maybe 10-12 more minutes storytime.

Re: Idiocracy

That is a very broad question.
I tend to lean toward Libertarian.
But I do not embrace any one ideology totally.
Except maybe Bruce Lee's - 'Take what is useful, discard what is not, and add your own' (paraphrased)
